According to Tomic, these are not ideas that will get you results but are hard to maintain, almost forcing you to go back to zero after a few months. These 5 underrated habits to reduce body fat percentage are great if your goal is to slim down and lose unwanted fat.

1. Walk

Walking can be considered the best way to lose body fat. Any capable body can do it and it can be done anywhere. No special equipment needed and you can get started right away.

The golden ratio would be to walk between 10,000 and 12,000 steps per day. Do this and you will see the most significant positive impact. The difficulty is consistency, but try and you will see results.

2. Eat the same meal most of the time

Most people who have slimmed down and pushed the limits of their physique have done so. “As long as you have some variety in a week and as long as your diet is of very high quality to avoid micronutrient deficiencies, there’s nothing wrong with repeating that.”

If you’ve never made a meal before, start with something really simple and make enough protein to last 2-3 days and give it a try.

3. Save calories for “Window Hunger”

Imagine your goal is to eat 2,000 calories a day. If you feel hungrier during the evening, be sure to allocate more calories for the latter part of the day.

Mario Tomic eats 25% of his calories at his first meal, 25% at his second meal, and 50% at his last meal. This is because he is mostly hungry at the end of the day, which helps him sleep, and also when he usually eats with other people, so he wants to be less restrictive.

4. Feast, not snack

Tomic says the only thing most people do to keep them from getting leaner is reactive snacking — randomly grabbing snacks based on triggers or impulses and eating them. It can make you feel full, but not hungry either.

If you’re tracking your calories, you should know how quickly those little snacks can add up at the end of the day.

You can either forbid snacking altogether or be more proactive and allocate 10% of your daily calorie intake to snacking only so you don’t exceed your calorie intake.

5. Cut the alcohol

Tomic says banning alcohol from his life has improved all areas of his life, especially his discipline and his ability to be consistent with nutrition.

Drinking alcohol, in addition to adding empty calories to your diet, can lead to poor dietary decisions, general sluggishness, and low mood.
