Holistic healthcare at Olympia with a personal understanding
Duncan has been a physician for 30 years and over that time has seen a range of different modalities and approaches to human health. Beyond his work experience, he also suffered from his own obstacles throughout his health journey that caused him to look deeper, including depression and anxiety. Even with medication and a range of treatment methods, her symptoms seemed to be getting worse rather than better.
“At one point I considered hurting myself and thought there had to be a better way,” Duncan shares. “I started the process of the inner journey to see what other practices there are.”
In the years that followed, Duncan explored many ways to cultivate better health and happiness in her own life. He found in large part that the methods he and his colleagues used simply did not work and that lifestyle changes were the most powerful. “What I’ve found that has worked is creating a healthy mindset and taking back my power of choice,” he says. “Our mindset is our most important skill to develop, and the key is to develop more willpower and develop mind and spirit workouts to create constant, eternal change.”
After making these discoveries and implementing them in his own life and in the lives of his patients, Duncan saw an opportunity to help support the community at large with this life-changing knowledge. He created the STB Bootcamp with the intention of providing genuine support and evidence-based strategies to help people achieve health and happiness for years to come.
Self-care starts with simple things at Duncan Integrative Medicine in Olympia

In order to see lasting change, the proper foundation must be established. Many people try to tackle all of their perceived shortcomings at once and quickly become overwhelmed. Duncan recognized this inclination and found a better, more productive way to create change. “The premise of STB Bootcamp is to do simple things better,” he shares. “Knowledge being power is not true; it is the consistent application of knowledge that is the power, and small incremental changes over time that are applied consistently is where we know we will grow over time.
Within this overall idea are three main components that are integrated into the STB Bootcamp: Identity, Mood and Strategies. Understanding who we are and who we want to be is an essential part of implementing change. “It’s about the energy that goes with your goals and your purpose,” says Duncan. “We teach you how to harness this and work on your belief system so you can become more confident and competent in your new skill set. From there, you can change your story and change your life.
To do this, there must be a connection with the emotional self, or mood. Duncan teaches three aspects of mood, which are attention, autosuggestion and energy. “We show how people can shift their energy in an instant with this three-step process,” he says. “It’s about asking yourself, ‘What am I paying attention to, what am I talking about, what is my energy, and finally how can I change it right now?'”
The strategies component involves a variety of elements, including bio-strategies, neuro-strategies, and spiritual strategies. Biostrategies involve healthy daily living activities and the habits that go with them, such as sleep hygiene, exercise and good nutrition, which is a huge emphasis in the program using a Mediterranean diet to help participants to develop better eating habits. Neuro-Strategies delves into the science of how we humans process information and manage events so we can create new patterns of behavior. Spiritual strategies are based on discovering control of our imagination and self-talk by better understanding faith and fear in our lives.

“We have the super power to choose,” says Duncan. “We can’t choose what happens to us, but we can choose what it means. This program helps you become what I call a CEO cubed: Director of Energy, Director of Emotions, and Director of Experience. If you can apply them consistently, you can transform your life.
